Pick a college and every other college is ranked by how far it sits from it in two sets of principal components of the ranking builder's criteria: academics (majors, research, selectivity, outcomes, class size) and student experience (demographics, cost, politics, size, city, weather, safety, sports). Each column ranks by one; the overall rank averages the two. Pick several and the ranking runs from their midpoint.
